Road Construction – Alternative Route To Grubbs Infiniti

Looks like there at it again! If you are heading east bound on 183, and are heading to Grubbs Infiniti, you need to take HWY 157, go under the bridge and then take Murphy to W Airport FWY. The exit you used to take, Central, is under construction. Sorry for the inconvenience but it’s the price we pay for progress!

Seven Days in Utopia

Grubbs Infiniti wanted to tell you about a unique sports drama to hitting movie theaters this Labor Day Weekend. George Grubbs Jr. and family played a financial  and supportive role in moving David L. Cook’s best-selling book Golf’s Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia to the big screen

SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA follows the story of Luke Chisolm (Lucas Black), a talented young golfer set on making the pro tour. When his first big shot turns out to be a very public disaster, Luke escapes the pressures of the game and finds himself unexpectedly stranded in Utopia, Texas, home to eccentric rancher Johnny Crawford (Robert Duvall). But Johnny’s more than meets the eye, and his profound ways of looking at life force Luke to question not only his past choices, but his direction for the future.

SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA also stars Melissa Leo, Deborah Ann Woll, Brian Geraghty, Jerry Ferrera, Joseph Lyle Taylor, KJ Choi and Kathy Baker. The film is directed by Matthew Dean Russell from a script by Cook, Rob Levine, Russell and Sandra Thrift. The film was produced by Mark G. Mathis (Brick, Precious) and Jason M. Berman (The Dry Land).

While on the surface, the story appears to chronicle an aspiring golf champion as he confronts his fear of losing the game. However the film goes much deeper to show that courage and trust is needed to realize long-term dreams. Tackling the struggle of what it means believe in yourself and building positive family and peer bonds is more important than continuously being the best at everything.

We will be doing some contests over the Holiday weekend for some movie passes to go see SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA so keep you eye on Facebook post this weekend!!

Breaking Heat Records in Texas – Be Careful Out There!

August 2, 2011

Today is the 32nd straight day of temperatures over 100°F in North Texas. In just ten days, we could beat the record of 42 straight days set in 1980. Many people want to break that record, while many simply want a cold front to hit quickly. Regardless of which camp you are in, it is important to remember to take precautions during extreme heat like we are experiencing now.

The Red Cross suggests that people watch the weather forecasts and discuss heat safety precautions within their household. Due to the increase use of electricity, power outages are more likely. Therefore, it is a good idea to check the contents of your emergency preparedness kit. Also, the more activities that can be done indoors the better!

During a heat wave it is important to remember to stay hydrated and avoid caffeine and alcohol which can cause dehydration to occur quicker. Avoid working outside in the hottest part of the day. If you work outdoors, make sure to take a good amount of breaks throughout the day. If possible, do not wear dark colored clothing as the sun’s rays will absorb and cause heat related problems to occur faster.

Don’t forget to be a good neighbor – who in your area is elderly, young, or sick? Check on family, friends and neighbors, especially those who spend the majority of their time alone. Make sure your animals have plenty of water and shade. If possible, allow pets to stay inside during extreme heat. Never leave children or pets in closed vehicles.

It is also very important to recognize when heat has affected you in order to avoid heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or dangerous heat stroke. Some symptoms are nausea, fatigue, lightheadedness, headache, and dizziness.  Should you experience any of these symptoms, move to a cooler location and call for help. You can also visit, www.redcross.org for how to best help others who might be experiencing heat related problems.

Until a cold front hits, be aware of how dangerous extreme heat conditions can become and be careful out there!
